The short version: the DiskMate app never sends anything off your Mac. We only see the details you give when you buy it or email us. This page explains what that means in full.
Who we are
DiskMate is made by Surendra Pandar, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the DiskMate Mac app and the website at diskmate.app. For anything about your data, contact surendrapandar.work@gmail.com.
The DiskMate app
The app collects nothing. Scanning, hashing duplicates, finding app leftovers and cleaning all happen locally on your Mac. File names, folder contents, sizes and scan results stay on your Mac and are never sent to us or anyone else. The app has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising.
When you grant Full Disk Access, that permission is used only so the app can measure and list files on your Mac. Saved scan results are stored on your Mac, and deleting the app and its data in ~/Library removes them.
When you buy DiskMate
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, who act as the Merchant of Record: they process your payment, calculate and collect sales tax or VAT, and send your receipt and download link. Your card details go straight to Dodo Payments and are never seen or stored by us.
Dodo Payments shares with us what we need to fulfil and support your order: your name, email address, country, the amount paid and a payment ID. Their handling of your data is covered by the Dodo Payments privacy policy.
The website
We use Umami to count visits and clicks on this site. Umami doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across other sites and doesn't collect personal information. It records things like the page visited, referring site, browser, device type and country. After checkout, the email address and payment ID in the return link are removed before anything is recorded.
Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and time of request) for a short period to keep the site secure and working. We don't use advertising or social media trackers, and fonts are served from our own domain.
When you email us
If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and help you, for example to resend a download link.
How we use your information
- To deliver DiskMate and resend your download link if you lose it.
- To answer support requests and handle refunds.
- To keep records required for tax and accounting.
- To understand, in aggregate, how people find and use this website.
Our legal bases are performing our contract with you (delivering what you bought), our legitimate interests (support and improving the site) and our legal obligations (tax records). We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't send marketing email unless you ask for it.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers named above (Dodo Payments, Umami and our hosting and email providers), each of which processes data only to provide its service. We may also disclose information if required by law. Some of these providers are based outside your country, including in the United States; where that happens, they are bound by appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to seven years. Support emails are kept while they're useful for helping you and then deleted. Website analytics are kept in aggregate form only.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California privacy law), you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent. Email surendrapandar.work@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
DiskMate isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.
Security
The website is served only over HTTPS, and payments are handled by a PCI-compliant provider. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll let you know by email.
